About Me

During my Senior year in high school, I signed up to join The United States Navy after graduation. I was only 17 at the time so I had to get my mother and father's consent in writing. I graduated May of 98. I stayed home one last summer before it was time for me to ship out to Bootcamp which was in Great Lakes,IL for 13 weeks. I was very happy with the decision that I made to serve my country.

NCBC Gulfport, USS Mount Whitney LCC-20

My first duty station was, Naval Constructon Battalion Center, Gulfport, Ms. (NCBC Gulfport). There, I was assigned to Construction Battalion Center Security (CBC Security). I completed two of my four year enlisted term. During my two years, I was given Temporary Assigned Duty orders (TAD) to go to Norfolk, VA. to board the USS Mount Whitney. Being that I was on shore duty, I got the opportunity to see what it would be like on a U.S. Navy Ship. The 6th Fleet Flagship USS Mount Whitney LCC-20 is a floating sea command. It's not like an ordinary Navy Vessel, most of the crew members are high ranking officers. It was a really nice experience being able to stay on board for an entire month.

RTC Great Lakes, IL

August 4, 1998, I was shipped to bootcamp located in Great Lakes, IL. I spent 13 weeks there. It was a very different and sometimes difficult experience. There were times where I just wanted to go home because I was extremely homesick. Everyday was a new challege that prepared me for the remaining weeks to come leading up to graduation.

Final Thoughts

When I was on the ship, I used to get homesick and now that I'm home and not on the ship or in the Navy, I find myself missing the millitary

I am strongly considering reenlistment.......Stay tuned!!!
